Bride's Story

Justin and I met in Drummoyne, NSW at Hieu's NYE 2004 party (the very first photo we took together, which was only a few minutes after we met, is to the left). My good friend Anthony spent a lot of time persuading me to go and I finally gave in and Justin was there with his group of friends. We first saw each other while walking down the road to watch the fireworks. Justin had doubled back to get his shoes and started walking with me on his way back down. We spent the rest of the night talking and having fun and Justin was very much the gentleman, giving me his mat to sleep on.

Lucky for him, he called and messaged me the next day. The only problem was that he was up from Canberra and about to start his final year of Uni - making the possibility of a relationship seem almost impossible. We talked every day on the phone and somehow managed to see each other on a regular basis and have been inseparable ever since.

When deciding on a location for our wedding, it seemed only natural to get married near the harbour overlooking the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the very same bridge we both stood, admiring, for the first few minutes of our meeting.

Groom's Story

Some friends and I planned to go to Field Day in the Domain on New Year's Day and decided to come up a day earlier and go to Hieu's NYE party at his house near the water in Drummoyne. I remember starting to walk up the road to watch the fireworks and realising that I didn't have my shoes on - not a good idea on NYE. I went back to get my shoes and on the way back up I saw Lankhanh and we ended up walking and watching the NYE fireworks together.

I knew we didn't live near each other, but I kept thinking about her all the time. Somehow, we managed to see each other a fair bit and we would speak to each other on the phone each day. At the end of our first year together, I finished my degree and moved up to Sydney to live with Lankhanh.
