Bride's Proposal Story

Justin and I had been together for about 2.5 years. We had decided to go to Batemans Bay for the weekend to visit his family. There were so many clues as I look back now, but at the time I had no idea that Justin was going to propose that weekend. He had already packed the car so I didn't even know he had gone out to buy a brand new picnic set and all the works - I absolutely love picnics!

I later found out that Justin had actually met up with my parents to ask them for their permission to ask me to marry him. My parents are fairly traditional so I thought that was so sweet of him to ask them. Of course, my parents love Justin and happily welcomed him into the family.

On the way down, Justin announced that he would finally take me on a picnic that I've been waiting a long time for and on the Saturday morning, his sister Jean announced that she had booked us in to get a manicure - yet I still didn't suspect a thing.

We got to Broulee Island and had our picnic right on the beach. A little while in to it, Justin got down on his knee and asked me to marry him - I screamed 'yes' but still couldn't believe what I just heard. All of sudden, everything seemed to make sense.

Groom's Proposal Story

As my parents live in Batemans Bay, we go down there quite a lot to visit them but also to relax and get away from the city. I knew how much Lankhanh loved picnics and knew there were many beautiful beaches and beautiful spots that would be ideal for the proposal.

Earlier that week I asked to meet with Lankhanh's parents and asked them if I could have their permission to ask her to marry me. I had always got on well with them so they were really happy and gave me their blessing and welcomed me to the family.

Lankhanh loves all things romantic, so I wanted the proposal to be very special and went and bought a whole new picnic set that would become "our" set for us to use for many picnics to come. On the day, Jean decided to get a manicure with Lankhanh to get her out of the house so that I could prepare for the picnic. They ended up taking a lot longer then planned, making me all the more nervous, waiting for her to return. I wasn't nervous that she wouldn't say yes, I was just nervous. I couldn't believe she hadn't noticed it the whole day, I know my family did!

We got to Broulee Island and found the perfect picnic spot right on the beach. A little while into the picnic, I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me. Fortunately for me, she said "Yes".
